Week 4

On week four

First, after a big amount of great reading and exploring many web sites,  My delicious is becoming a generous page with links related to the teaching of English.

I think I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, creating a tech lesson plan has been very clarifying and real for me. It is a feed back of what my students can do concerning the learning of a language, nevertheless I see an issue that has been missing at my school and has an impact in the students  reading skill. Non access to reading material is a serious  problem. Parents get the English book for each year and it has been so for many years, now we have the web, or the cloud to start a window for the students and teachers and access to reading material.

They have easy access to the web through all their gadgets, they are always connected, what they need is an organized site to start exploring first and then create the reading habit.

Hope everything comes out nice in our week 5

best wishes!

Hi Domingo,
First of all, it feels good with soothing music floating in your blog. Like you mentioned that our Delicious page is becoming huge, i do have got stored lots now. Everything is so good and nice can't just let it go but when it comes to using in my class, it has been always a problem with the facilities in school.

I envy to hear from you that the step your school is taking to provide a reading materials and students having their own gadgets to access the materials is so nice.

I hope you share so many insights with us and atleast we can compile our knowledge and skills to use it in future.

Thanking you

Sanjiv

Hi,

As Batuk has mentioned I've been using Delicious quite a lot too. I have always wondered how to mark students essays when they use the computer. Now I know that there are other possible ways to do it, that is using Google Documents.

We have also been exposed to the free e-books which are vastly available online. I will definitely use this opportunity and encourage my students to read the e-books too.

Please visit my blog too. It has truly been a trying and hectic week for me.

Thank you very much.

Great Domingo!

You are right about the students' need for an organized site for exploration and creativity. Even my students have Android phones and Internet connectivity, but they use them only for entertainment and facebook, whatsapp etc.

This course will surely give us and our students new web tools for making the best use of World Wide Web.

Regards

Darshan

Hi Domingo,

Such calm music...This soothes ones fevered brain. We've been brainstorming and doing voluminous reading this week, so effective.

Like Sanjiv I'm envious that your school can provide gadgets to the students to access resources from the web. This is rare in Kolkata.

Like you and many others, my Delicious is truly becoming 'Delicious', with so many valuable teaching links. I'm indebted to this course and our Instructor for this.

Hope to interact more in the coming weeks.

Regards,

Paramita
